Something else that's tricky with these is: While I am seeing some that could definitely have some interesting creative applications (depending on your projects), they're not the sort of thing you'd ever think to look for. Beyond that you could waste your time with flashy edits that don't really add much value to a project. I guess it's sort of like: know what you're looking for, have an idea of how to search for possible templates that could save you lots of time for complicated edits. Beyond that, a lot of them don't really seem too useful for the kinds of projects I work on.
Like I could see them being useful in a situation where, I have this very complicated video clip I want to bring to life, with lots of separate parts - and maybe before working to cobble it together myself, possibly spending an hour plus on that to not even do a great job, see if I can't find an awesome template ready-made for that sort of thing. Generally speaking though, they seem to me like something to be very rarely used, sort of like as an icing on the cake for those few applications where you need something customizable that's complex. Maybe if I was doing music videos or something highly creative with crazy amounts of visual effects, I could see more applications of these. Especially factoring in the drag many of them put on your computer when imported into your project.Īnd whenever I do find myself maybe searching for one that would have utility for a specific project I'm working on (like something related to sharks, for example, or marine life, or a mock game show thing for a comedy skit - could be whatever), I rarely find any that are relevant to my current project. Looking through tons of the templates available on sites like Envato, and while they're cool as fuck, I really just don't see too many real-scenario applications of these features that would justify the added time.
